Hi, I’m Janna—the artist and maker behind The Cozy Cabinet.
I’m an American living in central Germany with my German husband, our two daughters, and one very cuddly cat.
While my professional background is in music, English, and education, the truth is that art has always felt like home.
None of us question that when we’re children. We simply know that creativity is part of who we are, and it shows up in everything we do.
But life has a funny way of crowding out creativity and play. Somewhere between school, work, and “growing up,” I lost touch with that part of myself.
Watching my daughters play, create, and see the world with endless curiosity reminded me how important it is to make things simply for the joy of making them. Motherhood didn’t pull me away from creativity—it brought me back to it. Their childhood has reintroduced me to the little artist I used to be, and it’s been a beautiful reunion.
These days, so much of what I create is inspired by the kind of home I’m trying to build for my family: one that’s colorful, welcoming, full of warmth, imagination, and little moments of everyday magic. To me, coming home should feel like a warm hug and I hope that same feeling finds its way into every piece I create.
To me, handmade isn’t just about the process—it’s about creating something that feels personal. Something made slowly, thoughtfully, and with the hope that it will become part of someone’s everyday life.
That’s why every creation at The Cozy Cabinet is individually crafted by hand in my home studio. No molds, no mass production—just slow, thoughtful craftsmanship and lots of tiny details.
Whether it’s celebrating a new baby, brightening a child’s room, or simply adding a little more joy to your home, I hope each piece brings warmth, personality, and a touch of everyday magic—and becomes part of the memories made there.
Thank you for being here and for supporting handmade.
It truly means the world to me.
Janna
